ABSTRACT
This article aims to build relationships between two works by José Saramago inserted in the topos of navigation, so dear to Portuguese literature: A Jangada de Pedra and O Conto da Ilha Desconhecida, and, navigating in the critical approach of Lusitanian history, to observe the possibilities that emerge when establishing, through literature, a new cartography as an answer to the Portuguese identity question.
