Modernism in literature was responsible for a series of ruptures that led to the experimentation of techniques that sought to give greater depth in the psychological aspects of the character. This study proposes a narrative analysis on the use of the stream of consciousness and interior monologue as a technique for composing characters in the short stories of Virginia Woolf and Clarice Lispector. For the theoretical framework, we selected studies by authors such as Humphrey (1954) and Carvalho (2012) related to the stream of consciousness, Gotlib (1998) and Candido (2009) regarding the construction of the fictional character.
