Abstract

Within the scope of Law nº 10.639/2003, the textbook constitutes important tool in the process of identity formation, with regard to the valorization of Black identity. This article problematizes a Portuguese Language textbook, to make  invisible Luiz Gama in the presentation of the poets in the content of Romanticism in Brazil. The analysis, of a bibliographic, documentary and qualitative nature, is guided by authors such as  Munanga (2005; 2020), Cuti (2010), Ferreira (2000) among others. As a result, it was found that the blurring of Black authorship in the content of Romanticism signals a racist bias to the textbook.
