The book História do Brasil (1932), by Murilo Mendes (1901/1975), presents 60 poems that deal with satirical situations, lowering or reducing positions and giving new references and, thus, carrying out another reading of the history of Brazil. However, because it caters to predilections, the book ends up being passed over by the author himself when preparing his 1959 anthology. Throughout the book, the sequence of poems presents similarities with a carnival parade. Highlight for the poems:“Hino do deputado”; “Teorema das compensações”; “Embarque do papagaio real”; “Linhas paralelas”; “Amostra da poesia local”; “Amostra da ciência local” and “Soneto do dia 15”.
